On Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11:15am, a national conference organized by the Public Health Ministry took place at the UNESCO Palace. The conference was mainly dedicated to increasing the standards of healthcare services provided by the Lebanese Medical Centers.
During the conference, 25 Lebanese Medical Centers, including ARCL’s “Araxi Boulghourjian” Socio-Medical Center (ABSMC) were honored for their success achieved in meeting international standards.
Armenian Bloc delegated, MP Hagop Pakradounian, Bourj Hammoud mayor Antranik Meserlian, and more than 200 ARCL members from the various ARCL Chapters in Lebanon attended the event.
Health Minister Ali Hassan Khalil stressed in his word that the ministry remains committed to providing healthcare to all those who are not insured. He stated that the ministry will provide preliminary healthcare to all Lebanese even to those living in the provinces stressing on the importance of this plan as it will best serve the Lebanese citizens in meeting their immediate health needs.
He hoped that January 18th will become National Preliminary Healthcare Day.
In her word, Vice-President of the National Commission for Lebanese Women Ms. Randa Berri thanked Minister Khalil for honoring her to sponsor this event. She stated that the announcement of this plan by the ministry is a cornerstone in the history of Lebanon since the service will provide medical care to all regions of Lebanon and especially to the villages.
Berri also said that the adoption of this strategic plan of Preliminary healthcare by the 170 medical centers operating all over the country is another national achievement, and that the success of this plan is the responsibility of all, from the Lebanese Government to the municipalities, organizations and charities.
Lastly, special souvenirs were given to the 25 centers from the 170 Lebanese Medical Centers which had completed the crediting phase with success and proved that their services met international standards. The souvenir of the ARCL “Araxi Boulghourjian” Socio-Medical Center was received by Director of the Center Sossi Sagehrian.
