Lecture Night: “The Armenian People’s Losses in the Health Sector As A Result Of the Genocide.”

Under the patronage of the Armenian Genocide Centenary Central Committee of Lebanon, the Health Committee of the ARCL Regional Executive (REB) and the Public Health  Department of the “Araxi Boulghourjian” Socio-Medical Center (ABSMC) had organized a lecture night on 16 April 2015 at “Punig” Hall of Aztag Daily. The event took place in collaboration with the "Punig" All Armenian Fund.

After the ARS Anthem, Ms Areknaz Aghasarkissian welcomed the attendees and thanked the Armenian Genocide Centenary Central Committee of Lebanon, the Punig Fund, and a generous benefactor.

The theme of the lecture night, “The Armenian people’s losses in the health sector as a result of the Genocide,” was presented by two Lecturers from the American University of Beirut, Prof. Mary Arevian and Hratch Kestenian.

Prof. Arevian presented the Implementation phases of the Armenian Genocide. While, Hratch Kestenian presented many unpublished documents through a video. He showed how Turkish doctors, despite their medical calling and prompted by extreme nationalism and their intolerance for the successes achieved by the Armenian people, have decided to end the lives of many Armenian doctors and thousands of people through infusing many poisonous substances into the bodies of their chosen victims. These ruthless doctors have done medical trials on healthy Armenians including the testing of drugs intended for mice on them.

Kestenian confirmed through various testimonials that the Ottoman army had lost large numbers of soldiers due to the lack of medications as very few drug makers were left in the state. He also referred to those testimonials that proved how Turkish doctors had shot death Armenian dentists in their sleep.

Next, Kestenian traveled to the 20th century and spoke of the favorable role of the American University of Beirut and the University of Saint Joseph from which many Armenians graduated, specially doctors who traveled to Kharpert, Adana and various other regions to serve the Armenian people. Kestenian showed the attendees the letters of many of these doctors to their university deans in which they had described the hardships they had faced.

The organizers thanked the speakers for their beneficial lectures and the attendees for their presence at the event.
