Garineh, also called Erzerun City, is a county in the Meds Hayk Province. With its dense network of rivers, it is an area rich with water. The land is plenteous where the grain plants grow best.
In 1514, Garineh was occupied by the Ottomans. The Russian forces had captured the county of Garineh many times, and many times they had been forced to return the land to the Turks.
In 1829 and 1830 tens of thousands of Armenians migrated from the region and settled in Akhaltskha, Lori, and other regions.
The Armenians of this region were engaged in farming, raising cattle and artisanship. The houses of Garineh were notable for their cleanliness and beautiful décor.
The church of Harvest or Asdvadsadsin was a famous academic center.
The cities of Garnieh have been destroyed many times during history and its people martyred.
The people of the region were dislocated during the 1915 Genocide.
According to data from 1909, the Garieh county had 45 Armenian villages.
The Garineh chapter was established in 1955 in the Amanos region in Beirut.
The founding board included: Berjouhi Haroutyounian, Janette Bedoyian, Zabel Deoldilian, Loussentak Chokaklian, Terfanda Kalaydjian, Azadouhi Sofian, Mariam Keshishian.
Amanos is located on the right of Dawra roundabout and extends till the Mar Yourself region. The Ehramjian High School is located in this district.
The chapter operates at the ARF “Soghomon Tehlirian” Center.
